Mataoe Nevils is a multi-hyphenated force in liberation-centered education and advocacy, bringing clinical expertise, lived experience, political education, and creative vision to every space they enter. Since 2018, Mataoe has been building intentional frameworks for harm reduction, healing, and community wellness—specifically centering the experiences of Black transgender and gender-expansive people.
Their work dismantles the assumption that inclusion can be achieved through language alone. Mataoe challenges organizations, healthcare systems, educational institutions, and movement spaces to move beyond performative allyship toward material solidarity—redistributing power, redesigning systems, and building cultures where the most marginalized can genuinely thrive.
Rooted in Black trans feminist thought and abolitionist praxis, Mataoe's approach refuses to separate the personal from the political. Whether facilitating difficult conversations about institutional harm, training birthworkers in queer-affirming care, or building counter-narratives against coordinated disinformation, Mataoe brings the same commitment: center the most impacted, tell the truth, and build what liberation actually requires.
